«Hraparak»: They Should Not Participate in That Rally. Acting Rector of YSU Summoned Deans for a ‘Briefing’
«Hraparak» newspaper reports that Yerevan State University (YSU) is in turmoil. Early yesterday morning, Acting Rector Gegham Gevorgyan summoned the deans to his office and provided them with a ‘briefing’: “It doesn’t matter whether the students come to class or not, you can tell them not to come, but they should not participate in that rally. No one from our university should take part.”
He even candidly expressed, “Am I not a national guy? Am I against traditional values? Yes, we should fight, but no one from our university should go up as a ‘number.’ When I was closing the university's doors back then, didn’t I know who I was closing them in front of?”
Currently, it remains uncertain whom the acting rector is fighting against or if he is trying to do everything possible to become the rector himself, as this struggle would presumably make it impossible for the “Soros-affiliated” Hovhannes Hovhannisyan to become rector. “Both are one, but still, YSU students constitute the overwhelming majority of the protesters, and the academic process is disrupted,” said a source from the newspaper.
