Court Rejects Manvel Grigoryan's Defense Team's Request for Judge Recusal
The court session regarding the case of former president of the Yerkrapah Volunteer Union, Manvel Grigoryan, and Nazik Amiryan, held at the Central District Court of Yerevan, was presided over by Mnatsakan Martirosyan, who rejected the request by the defense team for the recusal of the judge.
Before the court retired to deliberation, Manvel Grigoryan's health deteriorated, prompting emergency medical personnel to transport him to the 'Nairi' Medical Center.
Defense attorney Arsen Mkrtchyan presented to the court a document from 'Nairi' indicating that the defendant could attend court sessions with the assistance of equipment and a caretaker. It is noteworthy that Manvel Grigoryan arrived at the court in a wheelchair, connected to an oxygen supply device. Upon entering the courtroom, the defendant was greeted with applause from his supporters.
It should be reminded that Manvel Grigoryan is charged with the illegal possession of weapons and ammunition, misappropriating property worth more than 101 million drams, evading taxes exceeding 1 billion drams, misusing over 1 billion drams of state funds, and organizing the embezzlement of property valued at 37 million drams.
Nazik Amiryan is accused of illegally storing military ammunition and explosives in three homes belonging to her, along with her husband and son, Arman Grigoryan, in preliminary agreement with other unidentified individuals, as well as committing various types of thefts.
