Gyumri Residents on Tigran Mets Street Halt Sidewalk Asphalt Works

Residents of Tigran Mets Street in Gyumri have halted the completion of sidewalk asphalt works. The reason for this is a non-operational kiosk occupying an area of 110 square meters, which is placed on the sidewalk. This was reported by a correspondent from SHANTNEWS.am.

The residents are demanding the removal of the kiosk before the asphalt work continues, while the contractor is eager to complete the job. Today, the residents once again prevented the contractor from bringing construction machinery close to the section of the sidewalk adjacent to the kiosk.

The mayor of Gyumri came to meet with the protesting residents and noted that the request for the kiosk's dismantling is currently under review in court, and until a decision is made, they do not have the right to relocate it. The mayor proposed that the residents allow the asphalt work to continue so that the street can be put into operation. If the court decides to remove the kiosk, then the city council will take over the asphalt work for the area occupied by the kiosk.

However, the residents disagreed and continue to demand the dismantling of the kiosk. The kiosk belongs to Gyumri resident Aram Manukyan, who, according to the city council, does not have ownership rights to the occupied area, and the permit for operating the kiosk has long expired.
