Video: Corruption Exposed in Byurakan Community Leadership

Based on information received by the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Division of the Police's Main Directorate, evidence has been gathered indicating that in January 2014, a decision was made by the Byurakan community council to set a local fee of 150 drams per cubic meter for the provision of drinking water to legal entities and individuals with water basins from the community's drinking water reservoir.

However, due to personal interests, the community leader allegedly misused his official position against the interests of service and reached verbal agreements regarding water consumption with organizations operating both within and outside of the community.

According to currently known information from the investigation, from 2014 to 2019, those organizations consumed more than 24,000 cubic meters of water, for which more than 3 million 600 thousand drams were not transferred to the Byurakan community budget, resulting in significant damage to the community.

A criminal case has been initiated at the police regarding the incident and sent to the investigative committee for further investigation. The circumstances are being clarified.
