Emergency: Video of Fire at Yerevan City Hall

A fire broke out at Yerevan City Hall approximately half an hour ago. Residents and employees of nearby buildings noticed thick smoke rising from the City Hall building.

Video footage of the incident has already appeared on social media. According to information provided to Auroranews.am by the City Hall, the fire started in the area of the cafeteria.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations has also confirmed this information. Edmon Zargaryan, the head of the Information and Public Relations Department and the press secretary of the minister, stated that firefighters dispatched to the scene have confirmed that the incident did not have any serious consequences.

We spoke with the press secretary of the City Hall, Hakob Karapetyan, who informed us that no one was injured in the fire and there was no evacuation. Preliminary information suggests that cafeteria staff simply burned oil on the stove.
