Robert Menendez Calls on US Senate to Recognize Armenian Genocide
Robert Menendez, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, criticized Turkey's attacks on Kurdish people in Syria and the overall unacceptable behavior in the region during his speech in the Senate.
According to ARMENPRESS, the Armenian National Committee of America reports that Menendez stated the Senate should adopt a resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide, following the example set by the House of Representatives.
Menendez recalled the attack by Erdogan's bodyguards on peaceful protesters in Washington and noted that after the House of Representatives passed a resolution on the Armenian genocide, Turkey has been working tirelessly to prevent a similar resolution from being adopted in the Senate. He remarked that Ankara knows that if the resolution goes to a vote, it will be passed.
The senator emphasized that the Senate should not yield to Turkish pressure and must immediately recognize the Armenian Genocide.
