Prime Minister Tours Newly Opened European Center for Nuclear Medicine
As previously reported, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan attended the opening ceremony of the new European Center for Nuclear Medicine at the "Erebuni" Medical Center.
One of the main focuses of the center is the diagnosis and treatment of thyroid diseases, particularly malignant tumors. Treatment will be carried out using radioactive iodine in specially lead-shielded patient rooms, in accordance with European standards. The new center features four isolated patient rooms. At one time, six patients can be treated at the center.
The Prime Minister toured the facility accompanied by the center's management, familiarizing himself with the established conditions and technical equipment.
The center will operate with modern equipment, including a Gamma camera (SPECT) produced by the German company SIEMENS, which is the latest diagnostic device used in nuclear medicine worldwide. It allows for the detection of not only thyroid tumors but also cancerous diseases in other organs, as well as cardiovascular and bone-related issues. Research will be conducted using radioactive isotopes.
Considering the specificities of this field of medicine, specially trained nuclear physicists will also work alongside the doctors. The center will be managed by radiologist Natalia Shengelia-de Langen.
