New Controversy Surrounding the Mayor of Goris
The daily newspaper 'Zhoghvorud' reports that a new controversy is brewing around the Mayor of Goris. On June 6, 2019, the police exposed a case of fraudulent seizure of community property. A resident of Khndzoresk approached the community leader, requesting the restoration of his rights over community-owned commercial and bathhouse buildings, claiming that he had allegedly constructed the buildings but did not retain the documents.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the resident's application was approved without the necessary documentation. He obtained property right certificates from the Cadastre Division of the Syunik region and fraudulently seized buildings worth 4,250,000 drams.
A criminal case has been initiated concerning this incident, and according to the newspaper's sources, the Mayor of Goris, Arush Arushanyan, is involved in this case. He signed the resident's application, and the law enforcement authorities have sent his signature for examination; the conclusions will clarify whether he holds the status of a suspect or not.
Further details can be found in the newspaper's current issue.
