Turkey Announces Arrest of al-Baghdadi's Child

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has announced that Turkish security forces have arrested the child of the slain leader of the Islamic State terrorist group, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. This was reported by TASS on Thursday, November 7.

“The DNA test confirmed that he is al-Baghdadi's child,” Erdoğan said.

Previously, the Turkish president had stated that “several” relatives of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi had been arrested. According to the president, the terrorist's close circle has targeted Turkey.

“Recently, in the (Syrian) town of Azaz, the husband of his sister and their child were arrested and sent to refugee camps,” Erdoğan noted.

He also mentioned that the further fate of the detainees will be determined by Turkey’s Ministry of Justice.
