List of Officials Whose Personal Luggage Is Exempt from Customs Inspection Defined

The Government of Armenia approved the protocol on amendments to the "Customs Code of the Eurasian Economic Union" at its meeting on November 7. In this regard, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs presented a report stating that the protocol on amendments to the agreement on the Customs Code of the Eurasian Economic Union, signed on April 11, 2017, was signed on May 29, 2019.

The protocol specifies amendments to Article 321 of the Customs Code of the Eurasian Economic Union, which outlines the provisions for exemption from certain forms of customs control by customs authorities. Specifically, it is proposed to exempt the personal luggage of the heads of state of the EEU member states and their accompanying family members from customs inspection.

The draft also proposes to modify the list of Armenian officials whose personal luggage is also exempt from customs inspection as defined by the aforementioned article. The Ministry of Justice of Armenia has reported that the protocol does not contain provisions that contradict Armenian law, nor does it propose changes to the law or the adoption of a new law, and at the same time, believes that there are no grounds for ratifying the protocol.
