Video: 19-Year-Old Erik, Who Died in Artsakh, Was His Mother's Only Child
The family of 19-year-old soldier Erik Harutyunyan, who died from a gunshot wound in a military unit in Artsakh on November 4, does not believe the version that he committed suicide. Erik's relatives last spoke with him a day before the incident.
“He spoke with his grandmother for over 10 minutes. He said he was fine, everything was normal, and he had no complaints about the army at all. His grandmother said it was impossible for our boy to do such a thing; what could have changed in just one day?” neighborzina Avetisyan told NEWS.am, noting that Erik had returned from leave 20 days ago and was in good spirits.
Erik was orphaned on his father’s side and was his mother’s only child. Earlier, it was reported that according to the statement from the investigative committee, on November 4, around 7:30 PM, conscript soldier Erik Ararat Harutyunyan was found with a gunshot wound to the neck. He died while being transported to a military hospital. A criminal case has been initiated under part 1 of Article 110 of the RA Criminal Code (bringing to suicide).
