Investigators Are Uncovering Circumstances Surrounding Attempted Murder of 29-Year-Old
The investigative committee of Armenia is conducting an inquiry to clarify the circumstances surrounding an attempted murder of a resident of Yerevan. This information was provided by the information and public relations department of the investigative committee.
According to preliminary data, the individual allegedly responsible for the crime attempted to unlawfully deprive the 29-year-old resident of Yerevan of life. This incident occurred on November 1, 2019, around 03:00, when the assailant pursued the victim’s "Lexus ES250" vehicle on the Yerevan-Sevan highway, near the 48 km mark, on the road leading to Tsaghkadzor. The assailant, while equaling the speed of the "Lexus ES250," fired four shots from a 9mm firearm that he unlawfully possessed. However, due to circumstances beyond his control, he was unable to complete the crime and fled the scene.
A criminal case has been initiated in the Kotayk regional investigative department under articles 34-104, part 1, and 235, part 1 of the Armenian Criminal Code.
Both the 29-year-old victim and a 54-year-old man, who was in the car with him at the time of the incident, have been recognized as injured parties. A scene investigation has taken place, during which four 9mm fired cartridges were discovered and seized. Samples of the projectile remnants were collected from the victims, and comprehensive forensic examinations, including chemical, ballistic, and trace evidence analyses, have been appointed. Additionally, a gas pistol presented by the 54-year-old man, who attempted to intimidate the assailant, was confiscated.
The preliminary investigation continues. Necessary investigative and procedural actions are being conducted to clarify all circumstances surrounding the incident. Instructions have been issued to the appropriate police unit to identify the individual(s) responsible for the alleged crime, as well as to determine the make of the vehicle that pursued the 29-year-old man.
