Shooting on the Road from Noratus to Gavar: One of the Two Persons Has Died

On November 2, at around 09:15, the Gavar Medical Center notified the Gavar police department that two citizens with gunshot wounds had been brought in, one of whom died without regaining consciousness.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamsyan, an operational group from the Gegharkunik regional police department and investigators from the Gegharkunik regional investigative committee arrived at the hospital.

The police and investigators established that the deceased was 40-year-old Gagik Hakobyan, a resident of Noratus, while the injured party was his fellow villager, 56-year-old Arevshat Ghazaryan. It was determined that these individuals sustained gunshot wounds on the road from Noratus to Gavar along the Yerevan-Sevan-Martuni highway.

At the scene, investigators found a UAZ vehicle with license plate 31 LT 878, which showed signs of gunfire. Additionally, five shell casings fired from a pistol were discovered at the site. Preliminary reports indicate that more than 20 shots were fired.

A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident. According to reports from the photojournalist, the deceased had previously fired shots near the Gegharkunik regional court years ago at individuals present during a court session regarding the murder of the son of former Gegharkunik governor Hakobyan, when he was informed that his father had been assaulted.
