Fine for Incorrect Parking Increased in Tbilisi

Today, parking is not free in Tbilisi. The weekly parking fee in the city is 4 lari (about $1.5), 25 lari (about $9) for six months, and 50 lari (about $18) for a year.

From now on, drivers who violate parking regulations in the Georgian capital will have to pay five times more. The fine for violating parking rules in Tbilisi has increased from 10 lari (approximately $3.4) to 50 lari (about $17).

This was announced today by Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze. According to his statement, the law will take effect after the renewal of city buses.

The procedure for paying fines has also changed. Previously, the offender would receive a notice of the violation by mail; henceforth, they can view it on a dedicated internet page at www.tp.ge.

"In cases where the fined individual pays the fine within 10 days from the time of the imposition of the penalty, they will receive a 20% discount and will not have to pay the full amount of the fine. Moreover, all fined individuals will receive notifications via SMS on their mobile phones," said the Mayor.

Kaladze also highlighted the importance of implementing hourly parking in the city. The new rule has been applied on one of Tbilisi's central streets in a trial mode since August 1.
