Ara Babloyan Does Not Rule Out Possibility of HIV-Infected Child Being Infected in Their Center

Ara Babloyan, the director of the Arabkir Medical Center, does not rule out the possibility that an HIV-infected child may have contracted the virus while at their facility.

“A case has been identified at our center, and we are investigating the source of the infection. The child has undergone multiple tests, and the virus has not been detected because it was not identified earlier. We have used the most advanced methods and have found out about it. The child came to us suffering from severe immune deficiency,” Babloyan told Aravot.am.

When asked whether he could exclude the possibility that the infection occurred in their center, Babloyan replied, “I cannot rule out anything because it needs to be investigated and understood where it came from; how can I make a decision alone?”

It is worth noting that according to a statement from the investigative committee, on October 16, 2019, a citizen submitted a complaint to the Arabkir division of the police, addressed to the Prosecutor General of Armenia, stating that their minor granddaughter had been hospitalized at the Arabkir Medical Center from mid-August to October 11, during which she was diagnosed with AIDS, having previously never been infected.
