VIDEO: Anything is possible, but I am not aspiring for the position of NSS Director - Papikyan
“Anything is possible in the world, but I repeat, I am not aspiring for that position.” This was stated by the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Suren Papikyan, during a conversation with journalists in the National Assembly, responding to rumors in the media that he might be appointed as the Director of the National Security Service (NSS) in the near future.
“At this moment, I am in a place where I can do more. I am trying to carry out my duties properly for the benefit of the Republic of Armenia,” emphasized Suren Papikyan.
The minister also touched upon the process of community consolidation. According to him, the consolidation of any community is not carried out for political expediency. “If there is an initiator group that believes the participation in the consolidation process of a given community is not expedient, they have the opportunity to organize a local referendum through a signature collection, which will ultimately determine whether their initiative was right or wrong. In other words, these concerns are unfounded, because we are doing everything to make the voice of the public heard. No community consolidation is taking place for political expediency. This is done to ensure the economic potential of our communities,” he emphasized.
Responding to the question of whether there are political prisoners in Armenia, Suren Papikyan answered negatively. For further details, watch the video. Video source: Tert.am.
