Prime Minister Receives Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan today received the Russian Federation's Minister of Defense, Army General Sergey Shoigu, and his accompanying delegation.

Welcoming the Russian Defense Minister, Nikol Pashinyan highly appreciated the Armenian-Russian strategic relations and noted that the frequent meetings between the top leadership of Armenia and Russia and the continuously deepening cooperation in various fields testify to the dynamic development of the Armenian-Russian partnership.

Emphasizing that cooperation in the defense sector contributes to strengthening stability and security in the region, the Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the ongoing military and military-technical cooperation between the two countries and noted that the visit of the Russian Defense Minister would facilitate its further expansion.

The Russian Defense Minister thanked for the warm reception and noted that the allied cooperation in the defense sector between Armenia and Russia is developing actively and effectively.

Sergey Shoigu expressed satisfaction with the cooperation with the Armenian Ministry of Defense and highlighted the importance of signing the cooperation program between the Armenian and Russian defense ministries for 2020 in the context of further development.

Nikol Pashinyan and Sergey Shoigu exchanged ideas on the development of Armenian-Russian strategic relations, the further deepening of cooperation in the military-technical field, issues related to regional and international security, as well as the situation in Syria, including the humanitarian Armenian mission being carried out.
