Russian President Promised and Kept His Promise: Pashinyan
Russian President Vladimir Putin has promised and kept his promise. This was stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in an interview with Kommersant.
Addressing the safety of Armenians in Syria, Pashinyan noted: “There are about 3,000 Armenians in the northern city of Qamishli. I spoke to the Russian president about this and asked him to do everything possible to ensure that the interests of the Armenians in Qamishli are taken into account. At that time, the tension there was very high due to the Turkish invasion. I want to thank Putin for taking into account the interests of Armenians in terms of their safety during that period. We hope that the agreements reached will be implemented and that the interests related to the safety of Armenians will continue to be preserved.”
When asked whether Putin promised that Russia guarantees the safety of Syrian Armenians, Pashinyan responded: “The Russian president promised and kept his promise. He said that the interests of Armenians in Qamishli will also be taken into account during the negotiations. I informed him that there is a large Armenian community there. We see that this conversation has positive results.”
