Turkey Requests the Extradition of Kurdish Commander

Turkey's Ministry of Justice has sent a request to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs demanding the extradition of Kurdish commander Ferhat Abdi Şahin, known by the alias Mazloum Kobani, from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). This was reported by Ermenihaber.

The request includes a court ruling regarding Kobani's detention in Kobani. According to a written statement from the Ministry of Justice, the extradition request for Kobani follows his inclusion in a list of particularly dangerous terrorists.

Days ago, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan demanded through state television that the United States hand over the aforementioned Kurdish commander to Ankara.

It is noteworthy that Turkey considers Mazloum Abdi Kobani to be one of the leaders of the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) in Syria. Turkish authorities associate the YPG with the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which is designated as a terrorist organization in Turkey.
