Prison Service Submits Negative Report on Early Release of Hunanyan

On September 19, 2019, the Prison Service submitted a negative report regarding the conditional early release of life-sentenced inmate N. Hunanyan. On October 23, 2019, the Probation Service also presented a negative report. This information was provided by the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia.

Considering the negative nature of the reports from the two services, the administration of the prison facility decided not to present the issue of N. Hunanyan's conditional early release from serving his sentence or substituting the unserved part of his sentence with a milder type of punishment to the court on October 28, 2019.

This decision can be appealed to the first instance court within ten days after receiving the decision. Notice: If the prison facility's administration decision is not appealed, the issue may be reconsidered after one and a half years from the issuance of the respective decision, provided the inmate submits a request no earlier than 40 days before the expiration of the specified term. In case of appealing the prison facility’s administration decision, if the court denies the conditional early release from serving the sentence, the issue may again be reviewed three years after the final court act comes into legal force, if the inmate submits a request no earlier than 40 days before the expiration of the specified term.
