It's Time for Jhangiryan to Speak Up About What Happened: Sassoon Mikaelyan on October 27 Events

The President of the Union of Armenian Volunteer Corps and MP from the "My Step" faction, Sassoon Mikaelyan, sees no reason to release Nairi Hunanyan. He emphasized that the October 27 events need to be clarified.

"There are many people who need to play their part in revealing the crime. For example, I turn to my friend, Mr. Jhangiryan. He said at that time that he would make a statement, but then with a letter from Robert Kocharyan, he did not make a statement regarding October 27. Should we remain silent for 20 years now? It's time for Jhangiryan to say what happened. At that time, Jhangiryan was investigating Nairi Hunanyan's case, and today he should know more than anyone else," Mikaelyan stated.

It is noteworthy that today marks the 20th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on October 27.

During the question-and-answer session with the government in the National Assembly of Armenia on October 27, 1999, an attack occurred that resulted in the deaths of the President of the National Assembly, Karen Demirchyan, Prime Minister Vazgen Sarkisyan, and six other state officials and National Assembly members. Eight people were injured, and 91 were taken hostage.

In a conversation with journalists at Yerablur, Mikaelyan addressed his relationship with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. When asked if there was any tension, Mikaelyan responded: "I am not tense at all; if I were, I would break off. There are disagreements that are being resolved over time."

Mikaelyan noted that disagreements within the party are normal and logical. Regarding the statement about Arthur Vanetsyan that the former head of the NSS is his friend, Mikaelyan said: "I still say that Vanetsyan is my friend because I do not act according to the law of the wolves. You know, in a pack of wolves, when one bleeds, they all rush in and suffocate it. He has been on this journey with us."
