‘Haykakan Jamanak’: After Speaking about Amulsar, a Government MP Was Visited by Tax Authorities

‘Haykakan Jamanak’ reports that Varazdat Karapetyan, a member of the ruling ‘My Step’ faction, has been under scrutiny by the Tax Inspection for about two months at an establishment owned by his father and brother. The tax authorities visited the guesthouse located on the shores of Lake Sevan just after the MP expressed critical views on the Amulsar topic.

In an interview with our reporter yesterday, Karapetyan did not deny the ongoing inspections but excluded any political underpinnings, asserting that he does not view it as a means to exert pressure on him. He stated, “One inspection has been completed, and another is ongoing, but I consider this a normal process and do not believe it is political... Inspections have started in all establishments, and I do not think this is specifically related to my activities. If there was only one, then I would say yes.”

The MP is unaware of what has been uncovered during the inspections. More details can be found in today’s edition of the newspaper.
