Arsen Babayan Arrested: Court Publishes Decision
The Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction, presided over by Judge Karen Farhkoyan, has decided to arrest Arsen Babayan, the former deputy chief of staff of the National Assembly of Armenia.
It is noteworthy that Babayan is accused of committing official forgery and aiding in the usurpation of power. According to a statement from the Special Investigation Service (SIS), Babayan, in particular, assisted a group of officials in seizing the powers of the Constitutional Court of Armenia while serving as the acting deputy chief of staff of the National Assembly in 2018. Babayan does not acknowledge guilt regarding the charges brought against him.
The court also found that the investigator's decision to detain Babayan was not justified.
