Authorities Remain Under the 'Dose' of the Velvet Revolution

According to the “Pahst” newspaper, even a year and a half after the change of power, the current authorities are still under the 'dose' of the Velvet Revolution. Last year, it was somewhat acceptable when the Prime Minister or representatives of the government spoke about the 'Velvet Revolution' from various international podiums, informing their partners about how they managed to succeed and what they plan to do. However, currently, revisiting this topic has lost its relevance.

In this regard, it seemed that Prime Minister Pashinyan's speech at the UN podium at the end of September, where he once again emphasized the critical importance of their revolution and issued threats to the opposition, would be the last note of this strategy, as Armenia faces numerous important issues and challenges that can be raised from different platforms.

However, experience has shown that the government lacks an agenda for presenting itself abroad and has instead become entangled in the web of domestic political developments. They seem to be trying to further solidify their positions through pressures on the judiciary and by arresting and imprisoning their opponents.

This is why, during his visit to the United States, the Prime Minister was unable to secure any serious practical agreements, as his speeches were more devoted to praising the Velvet Revolution and threatening the opposition.

It is also a serious issue that high-ranking officials from the government and parliament continue to imitate Pashinyan's speeches, which revolve solely around the 'Velvet Revolution.' The more that high-ranking officials of the Republic of Armenia bring domestic political issues to various international platforms, praise the 'Velvet Revolution,' and discredit the opposition and especially the judiciary, the more international partners will regard them as unserious. This behavior will demonstrate that they have no plans to transition their relationships with international partners to a practical level, and their mission, in essence, has been completed.
