Son Hands Over Deceased Father's Weapons to Police
As a result of the explanatory work of the police officers, several cases of voluntary surrender of illegally held weapons and ammunition were recorded on October 24 in various territorial subdivisions.
A 60-year-old man from Yerevan brought an automatic rifle to the police station in the Kentron-Zeytun neighborhood, stating that the firearm belonged to his deceased father.
A 61-year-old woman from the Shirak region voluntarily surrendered a gun with its serial number erased, along with over 20 bullets for an automatic rifle, claiming she found the weapons while cleaning out her home’s basement.
Another man, aged 57 from Maralik, brought a double-barreled shotgun to the Ani police station, stating he found the firearm while cleaning his garage and immediately decided to hand it over to the authorities.
A 39-year-old man from the village of Karashamb in Kotayk province voluntarily surrendered a hunting rifle and bullets for an automatic rifle to the Nairi police station, claiming they belonged to his deceased uncle.
A 67-year-old man from the village of Lernapat also voluntarily handed over a hunting rifle to the Gugark police station, explaining that he found the weapon while renovating the roof of his barn.
Forensic examinations have been appointed regarding these weapons. It is important to note that those who voluntarily surrender illegally held weapons are exempted from criminal liability.
