Public Discontent Over April Commission's Work: New Wave of Dissatisfaction May Rise in Military Circles
The newspaper "Hraparak" reports that during yesterday's parliamentary session, members of the "My Step" faction were informed that they would quickly head to the Sayat-Nova office for a meeting. Some were specifically warned to be present, as typically only 30 to 40 out of the 88 lawmakers attend faction meetings.
The meeting focused on issues concerning investigative commissions. Lilith Makunts reminded Andranik Kocharyan that the April Commission was established for six months, four of which have already passed, and they are unsure about what work has been done so far.
Sources informed the paper that there is dissatisfaction regarding the work of the April Commission, and if they fail to deliver results, a new wave of discontent may emerge within the public and military circles. Makunts emphasized that, while the proceedings are confidential, the commission must provide some form of reporting since it operates under the jurisdiction of the National Assembly, not the Defense Committee.
Heiknaz Tigranyan, for her part, stated that while confidentiality must be maintained, they could offer assistance or advice in some form. Kocharyan mentioned that they should request an additional six months from the National Assembly to complete their work.
It seemed that there were hints given to Andranik Kocharyan indicating that the expectations from the Security Council were low, and he shouldn't have ambitions regarding leading the power structures, a sentiment that everyone seems to be aware of.
The meeting also addressed the water usage commission, noted to be very passive, having held only two sessions. Serious concerns were raised as well about Ara Babloyan's remarks that if he had committed violations, it would have been to help Nikol regain power. "Legal experts have been tasked with studying the issue, and it was explained to us how to defend Nikol if asked about it," the report added.
