Proposal to Deploy US Troops Leaving Syria to Akhalkalaki

Luke Coffin, an analyst from the Heritage Foundation, has proposed via his Twitter page that the American troops leaving Syria be stationed in Georgia, specifically at the former Russian military base in Akhalkalaki. This was reported by Aliq.ge.

According to his statement, this could enable a swift response in the event of a resurgence of the Islamic State. He wrote, 'The US armed forces leaving Syria could be sent to Georgia, becoming a force 'beyond the horizon' that would quickly counter any resurgence of the Islamic State. The US could utilize the former Russian military base in Akhalkalaki, which is located just 740 km from Raqqa. Georgia is currently more reliable than Iraq.'

It is also noteworthy that the American foundation's expert has repeatedly advocated for the accelerated accession of Georgia to NATO.
