Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Tigran Sargsyan Summarize the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council Meeting

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and the Chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission Tigran Sargsyan met with media representatives after the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council meeting and presented the topics discussed during the meeting and the results of the negotiations. According to Armenpress, Pashinyan noted that the discussion, as always, proceeded in a constructive manner.

“We managed to reach an agreement on almost all agenda items of the meeting. We discussed the information on the results of the work of the Eurasian Economic Commission, our main achievements in building an integration space, the reasons for arising problems, as well as the progress of implementing the EAEU acts,” said the Prime Minister of Armenia.

He also emphasized that the regulation of the alcoholic beverages market within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union was discussed during the meeting. According to Pashinyan, the adoption of the agreement will lead to the establishment of a legal foundation for a common market for alcoholic beverages within the EAEU.

“Next, I would like to point out the agreement on the specifics of transactions involving precious metals and precious stones, which removes existing restrictions in the internal market of jewelry goods of the Union. It is also important to have a program of actions aimed at promoting the jewelry of EAEU member states in third-country markets,” stated the Armenian Prime Minister, adding that he was very pleased that Serbian Prime Minister Ms. Brnabić was present there.

He noted with satisfaction that on October 25, another state signed the agreement on the EAEU free trade area, which is yet another step in the context of measures aimed at expanding the geography of cooperation.

“Today’s meeting was also marked by the entry into force of the agreement on trade and economic cooperation with the People’s Republic of China. The signing of the agreement with Serbia and the entry into force of the agreement with China demonstrate the increasing international significance and attractiveness of our integration union,” concluded Pashinyan.

The Chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission, Tigran Sargsyan, also highlighted the importance of the signed agreement on trade and economic cooperation with China. “We are creating a more efficient regime for Eurasian business, which opens new opportunities for trade and economic cooperation with China,” said Sargsyan.
