New Details on the Truck Found with 39 Bodies in England

The British police have arrested two individuals suspected of being involved in the deaths of 39 people, whose bodies were discovered on October 23 in a truck trailer in Essex, England.

This was reported by the county police in a statement released on October 25.

“A man and a woman, both aged 38, have been arrested in Warrington on suspicion of participating in a criminal conspiracy to cause death and facilitate the illegal transportation of people across borders,” law enforcement officials stated.

Earlier, the driver of the truck, a 25-year-old resident of Northern Ireland, was also arrested in connection with the case involving the 39 fatalities.

On October 24, British television channel ITV, citing sources close to the investigation, reported that all 39 individuals whose bodies were found in the truck trailer on October 23 were Chinese citizens.

According to the television network, investigators are currently working to establish the identities of the victims. Media reports indicate that the preliminary cause of death for the 38 adults and one teenager is believed to be freezing. Inside the refrigerated truck, where the bodies were found, temperatures had reportedly dropped to minus 25 degrees Celsius.

The official representative of China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hua Chunying, stated that the ministry does not yet have conclusive information about the individuals whose bodies were discovered in the UK truck. The diplomat noted that Beijing has requested British authorities to provide operational information to China as soon as the investigation clarifies the real facts, according to TASS agency.
