Charges Filed Against Vardenis Mayor: Details
The Investigative Committee of Armenia has launched significant investigative and procedural actions in the Vardenis investigative department of Gegharkunik region, discovering several circumstances regarding the negligence of the Vardenis community's mayor in relation to his duties. Charges have been filed against the mayor.
According to the data obtained during the investigation, the acting mayor of Vardenis community took office on December 21, 2018, and from February 25, 2019, officially became the community's mayor. He was authorized to prevent and suspend unauthorized construction, eliminate the consequences as prescribed by law, and prevent illegal land usage within the administrative boundaries of the community.
At the end of December 2018, he became aware of the unauthorized construction of a café's kitchen and café within the area of the park named after Garnik Karapetyan in Vardenis city. However, he deliberately did not take measures to eliminate the consequences of the unauthorized construction in the aforementioned park area, nor did he suspend or prevent the construction activities.
Based on sufficient evidence gathered, charges have been filed against the mayor of Vardenis under Article 315 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. As a preventive measure, he has been issued a non-leave signature. The investigation is ongoing, and actions are being taken to ensure a comprehensive, complete, and objective examination of the circumstances of the case.
