Assassination Attempt Planned Against Angela Merkel: Details
A planned assassination attempt against German Chancellor Angela Merkel may have been organized. According to investigation data, two months prior to the Berlin terrorist attack, Tunisian citizen Anis Amri took selfies around Merkel's residence. In one of the photos, Merkel's office window was specifically marked. Additionally, authorities discovered images on Amri's phone that were taken in the vicinity of Merkel's home. German law enforcement believes that Amri had been surveilling Merkel for a considerable time. The investigation indicates that the terrorist was spying on the Chancellor of Germany.
It is worth recalling that on the evening of December 19, 2016, the man drove a truck into a crowd gathered at a Christmas market, resulting in the deaths of 12 people.
