Marijuana Found at US Missile Base
The US Air Force is investigating reports of marijuana being found at a military base in North Dakota, where Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missiles are stationed, according to the publication Task & Purpose.
Earlier, information surfaced online suggesting that a military personnel at the Minot Air Force Base was caught smoking marijuana during their shift. Reports indicated that during a search, a substance identified as marijuana was discovered in one of the base's buildings.
Gabriel Cushing, a representative of the military base, confirmed in a conversation with the publication that the base leadership is investigating "suspicions of illegal drugs being present in an above-ground facility." He declined to provide details, stating that no information would be released until the investigation is completed.
The Associated Press, citing a statement from a US Air Force representative, clarified that the incident occurred on October 9, during an alert at the missile launch warning facility. The agency's source emphasized that the drugs were not found near the placement of missile guidance operators.
Task & Purpose reminds that earlier this year in May, two servicemen were subjected to administrative penalties at another missile base in Wyoming for substance use, where Minuteman missiles are also stationed.
