US to Vote on Armenian Genocide Recognition Bill

The Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Eliot Engel, and Co-Chair of the Congressional Armenian Caucus, Frank Pallone, have announced that the US House of Representatives will soon vote on a bill recognizing the Armenian Genocide. This was reported by the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA).

The discussion also includes the issue of imposing sanctions against Turkey. “I am confident that the Turkish government is displeased with this, and we are dissatisfied with the Turkish government,” Engel stated.

The Executive Director of the Armenian National Committee of America, Aram Hambarian, welcomed the lawmakers' initiative. “It is clear that Turkish President Erdogan will not take US sanctions seriously as long as Washington remains silent on recognizing the Armenian Genocide,” he remarked.
