First Liver Transplant from Living Donor Performed on a Child in Armenia
For the first time in Armenia, a liver transplant from a living donor was successfully performed on a child at Arabkir Medical Center yesterday, in collaboration with our Belarusian partners.
It is noteworthy that this year the first liver transplant was also performed on an adult at Astghik Medical Center with the help of our Russian colleagues. This was announced by the Minister of Health, Arsen Torosyan, on his Facebook page.
“The performance of such complex surgeries in Armenia speaks to the development of our medicine and medical science. I arranged for collaboration on transplant medicine with our Belarusian partners during my official visit to Minsk in January of this year, which was followed by a comprehensive training program for 11 Armenian specialists in Minsk. The condition of both the donor and recipient is currently satisfactory and corresponds to the normal postoperative course. I wish them good health,” the post states.
