In Memory of Each Fallen Hero: Work to Establish a Pine Grove in Artsakh Will Begin
Starting April 2 of the coming year, work will begin on the establishment of a pine grove in Artsakh, where named trees will be planted in memory of our soldiers who devoted their lives to the sacred cause of the Artsakh liberation struggle and its defense. This was announced by the former Prime Minister and State Minister of the Republic of Artsakh, Arayik Harutyunyan, during a party event held in the unique pine grove of the Caucasus, located in the community of Dismayr in the Kashatagh region.
“Yesterday, I visited the village of Dismayr with my family members, where we also held a party event. I personally delivered the party cards to our new team members who strengthened the ranks of ‘Free Homeland,’ as is customary. It took place in the area adjacent to the village, in the pine grove that is considered unique in the Caucasus. But the choice of location had another purpose. According to popular belief, this grove was established in memory of the fallen heroes of Avarayr. I don’t know how much the legend corresponds to reality, but I believe the essence of it is what our people have passed down through generations for one thousand five hundred years...
I have long thought about how or in what way we can immortalize the sacred memory of our soldiers who dedicated their lives to the sacred cause of the Artsakh liberation struggle. There were various ideas, but the most memorable one that emerged recently is the establishment of a new pine grove, as no stone structure can outlast a pine tree, or as we call it in Artsakh, ‘tanjrin,’ which also has the ability to reproduce. We have chosen the location in the northern part of Kashatagh, near the Tzitzernavank area, which, in addition to climatic conditions, will symbolically strengthen our unbreakable bond with our Motherland.
We plan to start planting trees on April 2 of the coming year. I consider it unnecessary to comment on the advice and philosophy. The family representative will plant the named seedling in memory of each fallen warrior and soldier. As for those who have no relatives and other nationalities who fell for our land, we will all immortalize their memory together by planting those trees in their stead. Let us re-evaluate our values by the example of our ancestors and pass them on to our generations,” wrote Harutyunyan.
