Imported Case of Measles Reported in Armenia

The Armenian Ministry of Health's press service reports that on October 21, a laboratory-confirmed imported case of measles was recorded in Armenia. The patient arrived in Armenia on October 6 from the Russian Federation. Clinical symptoms appeared on October 15, beginning with a fever, and from October 21, a rash developed on the body.

On October 20, the patient sought medical attention at the Arabkir Medical Center - Institute of Child and Adolescent Health, where laboratory tests confirmed the diagnosis of measles. The patient was then transferred to the Nork Infectious Clinical Hospital.

It is important to note that the situation with measles in Armenia remains stable. However, since the beginning of the year, there have been seven laboratory-confirmed imported cases, epidemiologically linked to Ukraine, Georgia, and Russia.

Measles is a highly contagious acute viral disease characterized by pronounced intoxication, catarrhal, and rash phenomena. The infection is transmitted via the airborne route.

Vaccinations are among the safest and most effective public health measures, saving millions of lives every year. Individuals who have not received at least two doses of the measles vaccine are encouraged to visit their local polyclinic for vaccination.
