«Hraparak». Osipyan's Cadres Are Leaving
«Hraparak» newspaper reports that there have been significant personnel changes in the police force in recent days. Yesterday, our sources revealed that Robert Smbatyan, the head of the Police Department of Internal Security (NAV), appointed by Valeriy Osipyan, has been relieved of his duties. Typically, the heads of NAV are among the most trusted individuals of the Ministers of Police, and when the Minister departs, the NAV head is also dismissed.
Smbatyan has been assigned to lead the Criminal Investigation Department. On Saturday, the heads of two regional police departments—Gegharkunik and Vayots Dzor—were also relieved of their positions, and as of yesterday, their positions remained vacant.
According to some information, Acting Police Chief Arman Sargsyan has decided to part ways with personnel from his predecessor and fill key positions with his own people. Just a few days ago, the regional police chief of Aragatsotn was dismissed, with his classmate from the acting chief’s course, Vahan Aghbashyan, appointed in his place. According to reports, Gevorg Azizyan, the head of the regional department in Syunik, is also his classmate.
The police spokesperson confirmed the news of Robert Smbatyan's reassignment, while they responded to inquiries about the recent changes in the system, stating that “personnel shifts are constantly taking place to enhance operational efficiency.”
