Arsen Babayan Arrested by Special Investigation Service
The Special Investigation Service of Armenia has obtained factual data in the course of the preliminary investigation of a criminal case initiated under the first part of Article 300 of the RA Criminal Code. It has been revealed that officials, during the process of former Constitutional Court President Gagik Harutyunyan's resignation, committed official forgery both personally and through employees who do not hold official positions, motivated by group interests.
This information has been confirmed by the press service of the Special Investigation Service.
Given that new instances of apparent crimes have been uncovered, a new criminal case has been initiated under the first part of Article 314 of the RA Criminal Code, which has been merged with the criminal case initiated regarding the usurpation of power.
Arsen Babayan, the former deputy head of the RA National Assembly staff, has been arrested on suspicion of committing a crime as defined by the first part of Article 314 of the RA Criminal Code.
The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
