VIDEO: Driver Deliberately Runs Over Group of People in Yerevan

On the night of October 3, a 35-year-old man and a 20-year-old young man were transferred to the "Erebuni" Medical Center from 16th street of Nor Kharberd. The driver who ran them over left the "Opel" at the scene and fled, according to police reports.

The car has been moved to a designated area maintained by the traffic police. Officers from the Shengavit police department's criminal investigations unit, through operational measures, have not only determined the identity of the driver but also uncovered new circumstances surrounding the incident.

Senior detective Artzruni Mikaelyan stated that investigatory actions revealed operational data indicating that the 30-year-old driver of the "Opel" had had a quarrel with the victims just minutes before the incident, which escalated into mutual physical blows. Following this altercation, the driver deliberately ran over the group gathered on 16th street of Nor Kharberd with the intent to unlawfully take their lives.

A criminal case has been initiated in the territorial investigation department on charges of attempted murder of two or more individuals and hooliganism. Subsequent measures taken by Shengavit's criminal investigators led to the identification and apprehension of the driver of the "Opel" as a suspect. The 30-year-old man, a resident of Nor Kharberd, has been presented to the investigative authority and arrested. On October 19, he was remanded in custody and transferred to a penal institution. The investigation is ongoing.
