Compensation for Communities Affected by Hail in Armavir Province to Be Provided, Format Under Discussion

Compensation will be provided to communities affected by hail in Armavir Province, although the format is still unclear. This was stated by Armavir Governor Hambartsum Matevosyan in an interview with NEWS.am.

"There is a package for the compensation program that has been discussed at the Ministry of Economy, and now it is at the Government level, which means it is in the final stages of approval; it remains for the Government to make a decision. Support will definitely be provided; we are currently discussing the format, meaning whether there will be monetary compensation or whether the funds will be directed towards settling irrigation water and land tax debts or property tax debts," the governor noted, adding that he has already reiterated his views during a meeting with residents of the Artgina community.

The Armavir governor stated that it is still unclear how many communities will receive compensation, but emphasized that this year's hail caused less damage than last year, and the agricultural year was much more favorable compared to 2018.
