‘Joghovourd’. The ‘Purchased Goods Not Returnable’ Notice Will Soon Be Abolished, Otherwise Penalties Will Apply

‘Joghovourd’ newspaper reports that many clothing and shoe stores in Armenia often display a notice stating ‘Purchased goods not returnable’. Experts claim that this practice violates the Law on Consumer Rights Protection of the Republic of Armenia. This law clearly states that consumers have the right to return non-food products within 14 days. However, this regulation is frequently ignored in Armenia, as each store operates under its own rules.

The newspaper has learned that this phenomenon will soon be eliminated in the trade and service sector of our country. The Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia intends to amend the Law on Consumer Rights Protection and the Code on Administrative Offenses. Retailers will be required to prominently display information regarding the conditions for exchanging and returning non-food items; failure to comply will result in a fine of 50,000 drams.
