‘Aurora’ has become the Nobel Prize awarded for our peace, says Nikol Pashinyan
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, participated in the ceremonial awarding of the ‘Aurora’ Prize.
During his speech at the award ceremony, Prime Minister Pashinyan highlighted that the ‘Aurora’ initiative is carrying out significant and important work. “And I am glad to see all of you in Freedom Square in Yerevan and to welcome our guests to Armenia. I would also like to congratulate all of us on the occasion of hosting the ‘Aurora’ forum week in Armenia and to greet all participants and organizers of this wonderful event. I am well aware that numerous engaging discussions have been held within the framework of the forum and will continue for several days to come, addressing various issues ranging from artificial intelligence to the preservation of cultural heritage, the development of education, and humanitarian actions. We are grateful to ‘Aurora’ for holding these discussions and contributing to the formation of our vision for the future of enriching Armenia's intellectual and cultural life.
According to Pashinyan, the ‘Aurora’ initiative occupies a vital place in our lives. “With pride, we can say that ‘Aurora’ has gained wide recognition worldwide today and is contributing greatly to the enhancement of the Armenian people’s reputation and the expansion of its visibility. Created as a means to immortalize the innocent victims of the Armenian Genocide, the ‘Aurora’ Prize celebrates humanitarianism, encourages peace, and embodies the selfless dedication to serving the advancement of humanity. ‘Aurora’ has become our nation’s specific contribution to the promotion and reinforcement of the ideals of human rights and humanism throughout the world. It has, if I may say so, become our Nobel Prize awarded for our peace.
Unfortunately, in the modern world, conflicts and wars are everywhere, in almost every corner of the globe, and the ‘Aurora’ award is one of the tools that truly makes a significant contribution to the prevention of human tragedies and the establishment of peace. ‘Aurora’ supports and honors those individuals who act for the sake of human life, health, dignity, rights protection, and peace, ignoring all difficulties and dangers. And this is a unique expression of the biblical saying, ‘Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.’ It is an honor for me to welcome and congratulate the three humanitarians of the ‘Aurora’ Prize, the heroes of 2019, whose exceptional work and mission we have gathered here to honor,” said the Prime Minister.
