168 Hours: Vahe Grigoryan Received 3 Million Drams Salary Without Attending Any Constitutional Court Session

168 Hours reports that Vahe Grigoryan, who was elected as a judge of the Constitutional Court by the National Assembly on June 20, 2019, and declared himself the President of the Constitutional Court, has not participated in any procedural session of the Constitutional Court during the past approximately five months, has not performed any work obligations, and has not examined any cases. However, he has received more than 3 million drams in salary from the state budget.

It is noteworthy that although Grigoryan states in his interviews that Armenia should have 'no Constitutional Court' and questions the legitimacy of the high court, this does not prevent him from receiving a monthly salary of 793,680 drams while doing nothing with taxpayers' money.

According to Article 12, Part 3, Clause 1 of the Law of the Republic of Armenia on the Constitutional Court, a significant disciplinary violation occurs when 'a Constitutional Court judge is absent from the Court sessions without a valid reason three or more times within one year,' which serves as grounds for the National Assembly to petition the Constitutional Court regarding the termination of the judge's powers.
