We Decided Not to Accept the Case. Alvina Gyulumyan on the Constitutional Court's Decision

The Constitutional Court will publish its procedural decision on the rejection of the acceptance of the case regarding "the cessation of the powers of Constitutional Court judge Hrayr Tovmasyan based on the request of the National Assembly" within three days. This was stated by Constitutional Court member Alvina Gyulumyan in a conversation with reporters before the Court. She declined to comment on the decision. "At this moment, I do not find it necessary to provide an explanation; we simply decided not to accept the case, that’s all," she said.

It should be noted that the Constitutional Court made the decision to reject the acceptance of the case regarding the cessation of the powers of Constitutional Court judge Hrayr Tovmasyan at its procedural meeting held today, October 14.

Previously, we reported that on October 4, the National Assembly approved a proposal to address the Constitutional Court regarding the cessation of the powers of the Court's president Hrayr Tovmasyan through a closed secret ballot. The initiator of the initiative to address the Constitutional Court regarding the cessation of Tovmasyan's powers is the "My Step" faction. Hrayr Tovmasyan claims that this initiative has political and subjective motives. He had refused to participate in the discussion of this issue in the National Assembly.

Hrayr Tovmasyan was elected as president of the Constitutional Court in February 2018.
