Constitutional Court to Decide Today on the National Assembly's Application Regarding Tovmasyan
The Constitutional Court will determine today whether to accept or reject the National Assembly's application regarding the termination of Hrayr Tovmasyan's powers, Edgar Ghazaryan, the head of the court's staff, informed Azatutyun.
The court received the National Assembly's decision last Monday, which was sent to the judges for review. According to Edgar Ghazaryan, today is the deadline for the court to make a decision on whether to accept the application or to dismiss it.
The basis for the Parliament's decision involves alleged serious disciplinary violations committed by Hrayr Tovmasyan during the examination of former President Robert Kocharian's application, according to the ruling party's faction.
The President of the Constitutional Court has characterized the ongoing process regarding his continued tenure as political, while the initiator of the initiative, the ruling “My Step” faction, insists it is legal.
