Nursultan Nazarbayev Discusses Reasons for Resigning from Presidency
The former President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, has spoken about his reasons for stepping down from the presidency seven months after his resignation. He stated that he did not want to burden the population with his perpetual leadership. This was revealed during an interview with a Kazakh media outlet.
Nazarbayev indicated that the decision was well thought out, and he has no regrets. He mentioned that having the same leader for an extended period could lead to fatigue among the population, emphasizing the need for new faces, new systems, and changes.
Having led Kazakhstan for nearly 30 years since its independence, Nazarbayev described his years in power as a challenging period in the establishment of Kazakhstan. He stressed that it is now essential for the new leadership to consolidate the successes that have already been achieved.
It is worth noting that although Nazarbayev has resigned from the presidential office, he continues to effectively govern the country by assuming the position of the Chairman of the Security Council.
