Farmers Demand Higher Price for Grapes Amid Concerns

During the business conference titled "My Step for Aragatotsni Region" held in Sasunik, a question was raised regarding grape prices to Vahagn Mkrtchyan, a co-owner of one of the wine factories. "In the Vayots Dzor region, in the village of Aghavnadzor, where high-quality grapes are produced, farmers are raising concerns. Recent statements indicate that the reports are based on incorrect information, and they claim that this year the price is significantly lower, demanding about 40 drams more per kilogram of grapes. I would like you to clarify the situation, both for last year and the year before that," they inquired from the audience.

It is worth noting that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated during the last cabinet meeting and at the opening of the conference that this year farmers have not expressed dissatisfaction regarding the sale of their grape harvest.

The businessman responded to the inquiry, saying, "People want to receive as much money as possible, but if I go to the government and ask why the grape prices are like this, what does the government have to do with it? He is a businessman, he produces grapes, and I produce wine, what does the state have to do with this? This is a remnant of Soviet mentality." He indicated that they continue to fulfill their contractual obligations properly.
