Tragic Car Accident in Gegharkunik Region: Jeep Grand Cherokee Collides with Molybdenum-loaded Kamaz

Today, on October 11, a major and tragic car accident occurred in the Gegharkunik region. At around 19:20, on the 10th kilometer of the Martuni-Sotk-Karvachar road, in the administrative area of Vardenik village, a collision took place between a Jeep Grand Cherokee with license plate 22 PF 221 and a Kamaz truck with license plate 36 DS 490.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan who reported from the scene, one person died on the spot, and another was severely injured and was extracted from the vehicle with the help of civilians. They were swiftly transported by doctors from Martuni Hospital to the Martuni Medical Center, and from there, they were transferred to Yerevan.

Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene, including the rescue team from the Ministry of Emergency Situations with one firefighting unit. Rescuers disconnected the vehicles from power sources and cordoned off the area.

The photojournalist noted that as a result of the collision, the Jeep went off the traffic lane, ending up in the left median area, while the Kamaz also veered off the road into the right median area. The Jeep was completely turned into metal scrap, with its gas cylinder thrown over 50 meters from the point of impact. Witnesses at the scene mentioned that the driver and passenger of the Jeep were a married couple, and the deceased was the woman.
