Prosecutor's Office Rejects Sanasaryan's Lawyer's Appeal regarding Case Segmentation

The Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia has rejected the appeal of the lawyer of David Sanasaryan, who is accused of abuse of official power, pertaining to the decision on separating parts of the case involving Sanasaryan and former officials of the RA State Control Service.

Aravik Khachatryan, head of the Public Relations Department of the Prosecutor's Office, informed NEWS.am about this. According to her, the lawyer's appeal was rejected on the grounds of being unfounded.

Sanasaryan's lawyer, Arsen Sardarayan, reported that they had received an unclear decision from the National Security Service regarding the separation of parts of the case and appealed to the supervising prosecutor to clarify why a part of the case already submitted to the court had been delineated.

It should be recalled that on October 2, during a press conference, David Sanasaryan stated that even a separate part had been separated from the criminal case, of which they were unaware. Sanasaryan claims that he is being subjected to double prosecution.

Earlier, on April 18, David Sanasaryan was charged under Part 1 of Article 308 of the RA Criminal Code for abuse of official power. The investigator decided to temporarily suspend Sanasaryan's tenure as the head of the RA State Control Service.

According to the indictment sent to the court, David Sanasaryan, as the head of the RA State Control Service, used his official position against the interests of the service, based on group interests, and failed to perform his official duties. A signature not to leave has been applied as a preventive measure against Sanasaryan.
