Former Shengavit Village Head Had a Bathroom, Colored Lights, and Singing Chandeliers at Workplace

The former head of the Shengavit administrative district in Yerevan, Armen Sargsyan, has been in the spotlight of media attention since yesterday. According to police reports, he raised funds from various benefactors to provide financial support to participants of the April War, subsequently purchasing "Niva" cars, which he managed at his discretion. One of these vehicles was found in the garage of Armen Sargsyan's private house, as reported by armtimes.com.

In light of these events, many people also recalled the former village head's luxurious residence. They noted that he once had an opulent office furnished with expensive decor, a relaxation room, and a bathroom. The secretary of the staff, Karapet Shahinyan, considers the news about their administration working in luxurious conditions to be fake. According to him, the conditions are good, and they have tried to make it comfortable for employees, but it cannot be termed luxurious. "The chairs are old, the computers are ordinary, and so are the phones," Shahinyan stated, adding that one positive aspect is that they have a beautiful hall and an elevator, which many other village administrations lack.

Shahinyan mentioned that he has not seen or heard of such luxuries, and the renovation was done several years ago during the term of the former village head, Armen Sargsyan. In his office, the remaining chair from previous leaders stands out due to its size and comfort compared to the other chairs in the room. Already, the current head of the Shengavit administrative district, Razmik Mkrtchyan, informed us that many things in his office have changed compared to before. Some furniture that provided luxury was removed before his appointment. Previously, the chairs were more luxurious, but now they have been replaced with simpler ones, with only one chair remaining for the district head.

In the past, the walls were adorned with expensive paintings, which are no longer hanging; only the nails remain as a reminder. In Razmik Mkrtchyan's office, the only remaining luxury from the former village head is the chandeliers, which feature colored lights and the ability to play music. However, they too have lost their previous opulence. The current administrative leadership has abandoned the practice of having the chandeliers play music. "When the colored lights were turned on, there was music, but we have turned that function off. Who needs it? If it doesn’t serve any important function, music is unnecessary," noted Razmik Mkrtchyan.

One of the cabinets in his office also has a door that opens to a relaxation room, equipped with a sofa and a television. Razmik Mkrtchyan mentioned that the new sofa was brought during his time; the previous one was more luxurious. The small bathroom contains a sink and a shower. The young leader did not allow photographs to be taken of that area or the relaxation room, stating that they are personal spaces, and there is no need for public exposure. The office and furniture left by the former village head, while certainly not plain, have many aspects that the current district leader does not prefer. However, he asserted, what can be done? "It wouldn’t be right to demolish the office now to spend money on making it simpler," Razmik Mkrtchyan concluded.
